2010 Acura ZDX MSRP $45,495

Acura ZDX
The 2010 Acura ZDX is the third model we've tested that combines crossover characteristics with those of a coupe, which triples the surprise. First, I was surprised anyone at BMW thought its X6 would find buyers, which made it even more surprising when Honda introduced the Accord Crosstour. Now there's the ZDX, which enjoyed something those other two lacked during our test period: more fans than detractors. Soon we'll be testing the BMW 550i Gran Turismo, based on the 5 Series sedan, which proves BMW is bullish enough to double down on the coupe/crossover design, though its $63,900 base price puts it in a league of its own.

Styling matters in all cars, but aesthetic acceptance is especially critical in one like the ZDX, which sacrifices interior space and versatility for its daring design. If you don't like how it looks, there are many more usable and versatile options.

2010 Acura CSX

2010 Acura CSX
2010 Acura CSX
2010 Acura CSX
The Acura CSX is a model that’s exclusive to the Canadian market, and shares more than just a passing resemblance to Honda’s big-selling Civic. The CSX is the very definition of an entry-level luxury vehicle - a low-cost car with a luxury badge on the front - that exists to get customers in the seats of said automaker’s products in the hopes that said customer will move up to more expensive vehicles in that automaker’s line-up as he or she ages and earns more money.

Anyone who truly pines for the chance to drive a vehicle with a luxury badge on the front can have a CSX - even a souped-up performance-minded Type-S version like our tester - for under $30,000.

That’s all fine and well, but just like the Type-S we drove when it debuted in 2007, the 2010 version shares just a little too much with the Civic Si. It’s a perfectly acceptable vehicle, but being an entry-level luxury car doesn’t mean it can skimp on the extras.

Compare the Type-S and Si side-by-side on a sheet of paper and there’s not a whole lot setting them apart. They use the same engine and transmission and have almost identical dimensions, along with things like a limited-slip differential, low-key rear spoiler and two-tier instrument panel.

For around $4,000 more, the Type-S offers - among other things - leather seating surfaces, a premium sound system with satellite radio, a grille that features the chrome bar found on all new Acuras, HID headlights, navigation system, brake assist and a security system.

This doesn’t always feel like a luxury car though. Considering this is the performance trim of the CSX, the front seats have very little extra bolstering. That, exacerbated by the leather seating surfaces, means you’ll be slipping and sliding around even tame twists and turns.

2010 Acura RDX Review

Acura RDX, and he finds the 2010 model to be a “vast improvement” over his 2007. For a variety of reasons, Acura has stepped up its game and vaulted into the top ranks of luxury crossovers, he says. Read his full review to find out why the RDX impressed him so much, but also where Acura could still benefit from making a few improvements. Once you’re done with that, write a review of your own car by heading here.

2010 Acura RDX
“This is our second AWD RDX, and it is a vast improvement over the 2007 model. Along with the refreshed exterior, the driver seat now has two memory positions; the front passenger seat is power and not manual; there is a USB hookup for an iPod; Bluetooth is standard, as are heated side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, back-up camera, more comfortable seats, a quieter turbocharger and more responsive brakes.

“We also find the handling to be far better and the acceleration much smoother. I haven't found any info on any change that would account for the improved handling, but there is a pronounced difference.

“The RDX has now joined the ranks of luxury vehicles, as opposed to a wannabe. In addition, it is absolutely the best bang for the buck in its category, as Acura does not nickel and dime you for every feature (including those that can be found on economy cars). This is unlike BMW and Audi—and to some extent Infiniti as well.

2010 Acura MDX

2010 Acura MDX
The MDX provides the luxury appoints you'd expect in a premium brand, surprisingly good road manners and lots of attention to detail inside and outside the vehicle.
2010 Acura MDX
The exterior is simple and straightforward with chunky lines along the side that hideous grille, which looks like something Vince Shlomi would sell on late-night television. "It slices, it dices, and if you act now, we'll throw in, not one, not two but three gut 'n grilles." Acura, however, has done a nice job with the narrow headlights that seem to flow right out of that grille.
2010 Acura MDX
For the 2010 model year, Acura tried to toughen up the MDX's looks and, overall, succeeded. Even with that grille, the MDX has an athletic stance. All of the lines seem to be drawn parallel to the ground to create a very stable look. The extra thick D-pillar in the back may make looking out more difficult from the third row, but it adds to the dramatic curves cut by the windows.
2010 Acura MDX
The MDX comes with either 18- or 19-inch wheels and looks better with the bigger wheels stuffed into the round wheel wells.

More importantly, the MDX rides and drives the way you'd expect an Acura to roll. The 300-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 provides lots of power. It feels a little heavy on the road -- tipping the scale at over 4,500 pounds -- but it is more of a luxury heavy feel that comes with much more expensive vehicles.
Torque Vectoring

One of the MDX's best features is the super-handling all-wheel drive system that can use the2010 Acura MDX car's power to help its handling. Known as torque vectoring, the system will distribute power to the wheels the MDX needs spinning to stay on the road. It's amazing to experience the system, though it is not recommended for use on city streets.
